LtCol Pharathikoune was commissioned via the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program in December 1998 upon graduation from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia. After completion of The Basic School and Basic Engineer Officers Course, he was assigned to 9th Engineer Support Battalion from March 2000 to July 2003. While with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, he deployed to Zamboanga, Philippines in support of the Joint Special Operations Task Force – Philippines where he served as the J-4 Engineer.
Following 9th Engineer Support Battalion, LtCol Pharathikoune attended the Engineer Captains Career Course in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Following graduation, he reported for duty as the Inspector-Instructor of Company B, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion in Roanoke, Virginia and served in that capacity from December 2003 to July 2007.
From July 2007 to June 2010, LtCol Pharathikoune served with 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While there, he deployed twice to Iraq where he first served as Assistant Operations Officer, Headquarters Battalion, II MEF Forward in 2007-2008 then as the Construction Officer, G-7, II MEF Forward in 2009. In June 2010, he was transferred to the Marine Corps Detachment, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri where he served as the Company Commander and School Director of Engineer Equipment Instruction Company. He served in that capacity until his transfer to Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron-1, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing in July 2013.
From July 2013 to May 2016, he served as Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff and Operations Officer of the Aviation Ground Support Department. From September 2015 to May 2016, he served as 1st Marine Aircraft Wing’s Engineer Officer. During this period he attended and graduated from the Weapons and Tactics Instructor course in Yuma, Arizona. In May 2016, LtCol Pharathikoune transferred to III Marine Expeditionary Force where he served as the MEF Engineer.
LtCol Pharathikoune’s personal decorations includes the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
