Lieutenant Colonel David A. Janecke is a native of Glendale, AZ and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1996. Upon graduating boot camp and School of Infantry, he was assigned to 3rd Battalion 8th Marines, Weapons Company 81’s platoon. During this time LtCol Janecke deployed to Kosovo in support of OPERATION JOINT GUARDIAN, where he directed mortar fires.
In June 2000, LtCol Janecke transferred to the reserve forces 6th ESB Bulk Fuel Charlie Company, in Phoenix Arizona and began to pursue a degree in Secondary Education. During this time his reserve unit was mobilized and deployed in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM (OIF) in 2003.
LtCol Janecke was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant via the Platoon Leaders Course after graduating from Arizona State University (ASU) in June 2008.
After graduating from Ground Supply Officer’s Course in 2009, LtCol Janecke served as the Battalion Supply Officer for 1st Battalion 12th Marines. During this assignment, he deployed to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FEEDOM (OEF).
In July 2012, LtCol Janecke reported to Training Command (TRNGCMD) to complete a master’s degree in Adult Learning Theory in conjunction with the Advanced Degree Program. Upon graduation, he served as Train the Trainer School Detachment East OIC. In 2015 LtCol Janecke earned the Director position, responsible for both detachments.
In July 2016 LtCol Janecke reported to Marine Wing Communication Squadron (MWCS-18) and served as the H&S Company Commander and the Squadron Supply Officer. In 2018 he was assigned to Marine Air Control Group -18, where he would serve as the Group Supply Officer and Personnel Support Detachment Commander.
In 2019 LtCol Janecke attended Air Command and Staff College where he earned a masters in Operational Art and Science. After graduation he was assigned to Special Operations Command Africa. During this assignment he served as the regional desk officer and logistics planner for Northwest Africa. In 2023 LtCol Janecke was assigned to Marine Corps Logistics Group where he served as the Exercise Department OIC.
