Sergeant Major Rodger K. Bond

Sergeant Major Bond was born in San Diego, California. He enlisted in the Marine Corps from Grass Valley, California and attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California in July of 2002. Upon completion of Recruit Training, he attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California. He then received orders to Pensacola, Florida and Jacksonville, Florida for training as a 6072, Diesel/Hydraulic Equipment Mechanic.

In July 2003, Private First Class Bond received orders to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 39, Camp Pendleton, California. In December 2003 he was assigned to MALS-36 as part of the Unit Deployment Program (UDP). In December of 2004, Lance Corporal Bond volunteered to go to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 369 to deploy in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF).

In March of 2005, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal and participated in OIF 2005.2 and 2006.1. He was promoted to Sergeant in September 2006 and returned to Iraq for OIF 2007.2.

In December 2007, Sergeant Bond received orders to Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Site at Coronado, California, for MOS Instructor duty. While there, he served as MOS Instructor, Marine student liaison, Color Sergeant, and senior Martial Arts Instructor.

In January 2011, Sergeant Bond received orders to MALS-11 at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar, California. He was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in September 2011. In January 2012, he deployed with MALS-16 (REIN) to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While at MALS-11, Staff Sergeant Bond served as Training and Licensing SNCOIC, Support Equipment Production Control Chief, Division Chief, and Quality Assurance Representative.

In April 2015, Staff Sergeant Bond received orders to Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron (MWHS) 3 on MCAS Miramar, California. He was assigned to the Aviation Logistics Maintenance Assessment Team as the Support Equipment Program inspector. While there he inspected all Aviation units within 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing to ensure compliance with Naval Aviation Maintenance Programs.

In April 2016, he received orders to MALS-36 on MCAS Futenma in Okinawa, Japan. In September 2016 he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. While at MALS-36, he served as the Squadron Force Fitness Instructor and Support Equipment Division Chief.

In April 2019, he received orders to CNATTU Jacksonville, Florida, as the Marine Senior Enlisted Advisor at a Joint MOS School. While there he was selected to First Sergeant and frocked in July 2020.

In August 2020, he received orders to Motor Transport Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 451, as the Inspector and Instructor First Sergeant in Orlando, Florida.

In December 2022, he received orders to Marine Air Control Squadron 4 on MCAS Futenma in Okinawa, Japan, where he served as the Air Traffic Control Company K First Sergeant. He was promoted to Sergeant Major in January 2024 and assigned to 3d Maintenance Battalion on Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4th award), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4th award), and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
