Command Master Chief Nathan K. Chun

Command Master Chief Chun enlisted in United States Navy on October of 1991 at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and reported to Naval Training Center (NTC) Orlando, Florida.  After graduating NTC, he attended and graduated Construction Mechanic “A” School in Gulfport, Mississippi.

His first assignment was with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion ONE-THIRTY-THREE, where he completed deployments to Guam and Sigonella, Sicily, San Diego, and Rota Spain.  In February 1996, he transferred to Commander Naval Special Boat Squadron in Coronado, California.  In January 1999, he was assigned to Special Boat Unit Twelve, MK V Special Operations Craft Special (SOC) Maintenance Support Team and completed two deployments to Central Command (CENTCOM) and multiple exercises. 

In May of 2003, he transferred to NMCB THREE and completed deployments to Civil Action Team Palau and as the Assistant Convoy Commander and ran missions throughout the entire country of Iraq and down to Kuwait.  His next duty station was Naval Construction Training Center, Port Hueneme, serving as the Chassis Phase head where he earned his Master Training Specialist (MTS), Naval Military Training LCPO and CM-C1 Advanced schoolhouse director.  His next assignment was to NMCB FOUR and deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan Airfield as Officer in Charge, and a tour as Convoy Security Element Officer in Charge and Convoy Commander throughout the Helmand province in Afghanistan.  He completed tours with Naval Facilities Institute, Seabee Readiness Group (SRG) and stood up Naval Construction Group ONE.  In May of 2015 he was advanced to Master Chief and transferred to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FIVE, Port Hueneme California.  In 2016 he was selected into the Command Master Chief Program and completed tours with Amphibious Construction Battalion ONE and spent a little over four years down in Coronado California, Underwater Construction Team TWO and Naval Construction Group ONE in Port Hueneme California.

Command Master Chief Chun is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and a graduate of CMC/COB Course, Executive Leadership Symposium, Navy Senior Leadership Seminar.  He is qualified as Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Expeditionary Warfare Specialist, and Master Training Specialist.  He graduated with honors earning Magna Cum Laude and Alpha Chi for his Bachelor of Science, in Business Organizational Management with a concentration of Human Resources from the University of Laverne.

Command Master Chief Chun’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd), Navy Commendation Medal (3rd), Army Commendation Medal (2nd), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5th), Combat Action Ribbon, as well as various unit and campaign awards.
