Sergeant Major, 9th Engineer Support Battalion
Terrell Antwan Ford is a native of Detroit, Michigan. He enlisted in October 2002 and underwent recruit training with 1st Recruit
Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. He was meritoriously promoted to Private First
Class for serving as the second squad leader.
Sergeant Major Ford completed Marine Combat Training aboard Camp Geiger, North Carolina. In February 2003, he completed
his Small Arms Repairman certification aboard Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Aberdeen, Maryland. In 2003, he was ordered to
Personnel Support Detachment-18, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan. He served in multiple billets and deployed to
Korea as part of the Unit Deployment Program.
In August 2004, Sergeant Major Ford was transferred to Marine Security Guard Battalion, Quantico, Virginia. Upon completing
his formal school, he received orders to a designated country post Region 3, American Embassy Beijing, China, in October 2004.
In October of 2005, he was later assigned to Region 2, American Embassy Kuwait City, Kuwait. He then reported to Region 9,
American Embassy Tegucigalpa, Honduras, in December of 2006, Serving as the Assistant Detachment Commander. While
Supporting our diplomatic missions, he earned a meritorious promotion to Staff Sergeant in July 2007.
In July 2007, Sergeant Major Ford received orders to 2d Battalion, 10th Marines, 2d Marine Division. During this time he served
as the Battalion Armory Chief. He deployed to Rawah, Iraq, supporting Civil-Military Operations as the SNCOIC for Civil
Affairs Group, Team 5. In March 2010, Sergeant Major Ford received orders to 1st Battalion, 8th Marines. During this time he
served as the Battalion Armory Chief. He supported combat operations at Forward Operating Base Edinburgh, Afghanistan.
In January 2012, Sergeant Major Ford received orders to report to Basic Recruiting School. Upon completion of the school in
2012, he received orders to Recruiting Sub-Station Jacksonville, Recruiting Station Jacksonville, Florida, as a canvasing recruiter
and was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. In November 2012 he was appointed as the Station Commander for
Recruiting Sub-Station Tallahassee, Florida.
In February 2015, Sergeant Major Ford received orders to Weapons Training Battalion Quantico, Virginia. During this time, he
served as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant until being promoted (frocked) to the rank of First Sergeant in February
2017. Upon being promoted, he received orders to 2d Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division in Camp Pendleton,
California. He served as the Battery First Sergeant for Battery G, deploying on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in May 2017
with Battalion Landing Team 3d Battalion, 5th Marines. He also assumed the billet of the Headquarters Battery First Sergeant for
the duration of his time with the command.
In September 2019, Sergeant Major Ford received orders to 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3d Marine Logistics Group. He
served as the Company First Sergeant for Engineer Company B and Engineer Support Company. Prior to his current post,
Sergeant Major Ford served as the Squadron Sergeant Major for Marine Air Support Squadron 2 and 3d Reconnaissance
Battalion. In December 2022, Sergeant Major Ford reported to 9th Engineer Support Battalion to serve as the Battalion Sergeant
Major.
Sergeant Major Ford attended Colorado Christian University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies. He
is currently pursuing his Masters in Divinity with Liberty University. His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps
Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of second award , and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
