Lieutenant Colonel Osman Sesay

Lieutenant Colonel Sesay was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa, and a first-generation Marine. He enlisted in 1997 and later commissioned a Second Lieutenant in September 2003. He attended Fenn College of Engineering at Cleveland State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in 2003; he later graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Master’s of Science in Operations Research in 2009.

He served with MARFORRES in Anacostia Washington D.C and with the Inspector-Instructor Staff, 3rd Bn 25th Marines during his enlisted time. Upon completing The Basic School, Second Lieutenant Sesay attended Ground Supply Officers Course at Camp Johnson, NC. His first assignment as an officer was with 3d Materiel Readiness Battalion, 3d MLG, where he served as Officer In Charge Deployed Support Unit (DSU) and Initial Issue Provisioning (IIP), Battalion Supply Officer, and Regimental Supply Officer.

In April 2006, Lieutenant Sesay was transferred to 9th Engineer Support Battalion on Okinawa, Japan, where he deployed to Al Taqaddum, Iraq and served as a Security Platoon Commander until January 2007.

In November 2007, he was transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, Special Operations Capable (31st MEUSOC), where he served as the Supply Officer. In 2008, he was transferred to 4th Marine Regiment, where he served as Regimental Supply Officer. After graduating from Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School in 2009, Captain Sesay served as 4th Marines’ Regimental Logistics Officer from November 2009 to June 2011.

In July 2011, Captain Sesay was then transferred to Marine Corps Testing and Evaluation Activity (MCOTEA), where he was assigned as the Operations Research Analyst (MOS 8850) for GCSS-MC, TFSMS, Uniform Integrated Protection Ensemble (UIPE), Joint Precision AirDrop (JPAD) System, CRBN, Joint Battlefield Command Post (JBCP), and the Mobile Hybrid Electrical System (MEHPS).

Following his tour as an Operations Research Analyst, Captain Sesay deployed to Camp Leatherneck in the Helmand province, Afghanistan, where he served as an Operations Research Analyst for Regional Command Southwest, I Marine Expeditionary Force. After seven months in Afghanistan, Captain Sesay was reassigned to III MEF Headquarters Group, where he served as the Group Supply Officer.

In September 2016, Major Sesay was transferred to III MEF G4 MRB, where he served as Officer In Charge, III MEF Logistics Systems Coordination Office (LSCO).

From 2017 to 2020, Major Sesay transferred to 3d Marine Logistics Group, where he served as the Supply Management Unit (SMU) Officer In Charge and Battalion Executive Officer for 3D Supply Battalion,

In September 2020, Lieutenant Colonel Sesay reported to Headquarters Marine Corps Installations and Logistics and Served as the Section Head, Conditions Based Maintenance Plus, and later became the Section Head for Supply Policy and Sustainment.

Lieutenant Colonel Sesay's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold Star, Good Conduct Medal with bronze star and Combat Action Ribbon.
