Lieutenant Colonel Nicolas L. Martinez

A native of Dallas, Texas, Lieutenant Colonel Martinez graduated from the United States Naval Academy and commissioned as a Marine Corps Second Lieutenant in 2005. He was subsequently assigned as a Ground Logistics Officer.

In May 2006, Second Lieutenant Martinez reported to 3d Transportation Support Battalion aboard Camp Foster, Okinawa, where he served as the battalion's Assistant Logistics Officer. During this time, the unit re-designated to Combat Logistics Battalion 4 (CLB-4). He subsequently deployed as a Motor Transport Platoon Commander with CLB-4 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) at Camp Al Asad, Iraq, from 2007 to 2008.

In May 2008, First Lieutenant Martinez received orders to Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California. During this tour, he served as a Series Commander for Company M, the Operations Officer for 3d Recruit Training Battalion, and the Company Commander for Company K.

In June 2011, Captain Martinez reported to 3rd Battalion 5th Marines ("The Darkhorse") at Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as the Battalion Logistics Officer. During this tour, he deployed with the battalion landing team as a part of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the USS PELELIU from 2012 to 2013.

In June 2014, Captain Martinez received orders to the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, for post-graduate education and study. During this assignment, he received the additional military occupational specialty of Operations Analyst (8850) and a graduate certificate in Network Sciences.

In July 2016, Major Martinez reported to Headquarters Marine Corps at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. for duty as a Logistics Operations Analyst. During this tour, he was selected to serve as the Aide-de-Camp for the Deputy Commandant of Installations and Logistics. After successfully completing this assignment, he was re-assigned as the War Reserve Program Manager.

In July 2019, Major Martinez reported to Marine Aircraft Group 12 ("The Ready Group") for duty as the Group Logistics Officer. During this tour, he additionally served as the Group Executive Officer. He received orders to 3d Marine Division ("Caltrap") for duty as the G-4 Operations Officer in August 2021.

Lieutenant Colonel Martinez assumed his current duties as the Commanding Officer for CLB-4 in June 2022.

Lieutenant Colonel Martinez holds Masters Degrees in Operations Research from Naval Postgraduate School and in Global Leadership from the University of San Diego. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Basic Parachutist Badge.
