Lieutenant Colonel Hooker was commissioned in May 2005 upon graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy with a BS in history. After completing The Basic School, he attended the Logistics Officers Course in Camp Johnson, NC.
LtCol Hooker then reported to Transportation Support Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 6 and deployed to Iraq as a motor transportation platoon commander (Fallujah, 2007) and company executive officer (Al Assad, 2008).
After redeploying, LtCol Hooker reported to 3d Battalion, 6th Marines as the battalion’s logistics officer. While with the Hellhounds, LtCol Hooker deployed to Afghanistan in January 2010 and participated in the Battle of Marjeh. He was selected for the Foreign Area Officer program after returning to the U.S.
Upon completion of the Foreign Area Officer study track program in Monterey, CA and Ankara, Turkey, LtCol Hooker reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 273 in Beaufort, SC and served as the squadron’s Logistics Officer and Motor Transport Company Commander. Upon selection to Major, he was reassigned as the Marine Aircraft Group 31 Logistics Officer.
LtCol Hooker completed his Foreign Area Officer utilization tour as a regional planner with U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Europe and Africa. His most recent assignment was as the G-4 Plans Officer at I Marine Expeditionary Force.
LtCol Hooker is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School (nonresident) and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Command and Staff course in Brunei Darussalam. LtCol Hooker has a master’s degree in National Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School and speaks Turkish.
His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star, Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
