Major Scott Frederick Taggart

Major Scott F. Taggart was born on 26 December 1986 in Naples, Italy. After graduating from Forest Park High School located in Woodbridge Virginia in 2005 he attended and graduated from Virginia Tech in 2009. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps in March 2010.

Upon graduating from Ground Supply Officers Course in March 2011, he reported to 1st Battalion, 10th Marines, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina as the battalion supply officer.

In July 2013, he transferred to Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installation-East, Camp Lejeune and served as the base property officer.

In December 2013 Major Taggart applied for the Contingency Contracting Officer program and was accepted and transferred to Headquarters Regiment, 2d Marine Logistics Group, Camp Lejeune in May 2014. While earning his Master of Science in Contract Management from the Naval Post Graduate School he worked at the Regional Contracting Office – EAST as a contract specialist.

Upon graduation in July 2016, Major Taggart was warranted as contracting officer and deployed with Combat Logistics Battalion 2 to Moron, Spain in support of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force -Crisis Response Africa (SPMAGTF-CR AF).

Following the SPMAGTF-CR-AF deployment, Major Taggart transferred to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in Okinawa, Japan as the command element supply officer in June 2017.

After selection to the rank of Major in 2019, Major Taggart transferred to Marine Air Control Group 18, 1st Marine Air Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Futenma as the Personnel Support Detachment 18 commanding officer and group supply officer.

In June 2020 Major Taggart moved to Montgomery, Alabama to attend Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base.

In June 2021 Major Taggart transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion 3 aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii and became Support Company’s company commander prior to the company’s transition into Combat Logistics Company 33, Combat Logistics Regiment 37, 3d Marine Logistics Group in December 2021.

His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Gold Star in lieu of third award, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
