Command Master Chief, 3D MLG
Command Master Chief Charles F. Ziervogel

 Master Chief Ziervogel enlisted in the Navy in August of 1989. Following Basic Training in Orlando, Florida he successfully completed the Navy Nuclear Power Training Pipeline. From October 1991 to December 1996 he served as a member of Reactor Control Division onboard USS Nebraska (SSBN 739 Gold) through New Construction and Commissioning, completing 5 strategic deterrent patrols.
 
   From January 1997 through April 2000 he served as an instructor at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command and was onboard to assist in moving the Command from Orlando, Florida to Charleston, South Carolina. From April 2000 until April 2010 he was assigned to several submarines to include the initial manning crew of USS Virginia (SSN 774) as one of the first crew members, USS Augusta (SSN 710) completing various North Atlantic deployments, and USS Hawaii (SSN 710). During the time assigned to HAWAII, he completed a Northern Atlantic Deployment, various Eastern and Southern Atlantic missions, an Eastern Atlantic, a Western Pacific Deployment, various missions in support of the Global War on Terrorism, and a homeport shift from Groton, CT to Pearl Harbor, HI.
 
   Master Chief Ziervogel reported in April of 2010 as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the Chief of Naval Research where his duties included managing three Quick Reaction Science and Technology Programs for the Office of Naval Research, totaling fifty-two million dollar (annually). In February of 2013, he was selected for the Command Master Chief program and completed a rating conversion to Command Master Chief, transferring in April 2013.
 
   Master Chief has served as the Command Master Chief for the HSC-15 Red Lions, a sundowned helicopter squadron previously stationed at North Island NAS, completing an extended combat deployment for Operation INHERENT RESOLVE aboard USS CARL VISON. He has also served as the Command Master Chief of USS BLUE RIDGE LCC-19, homeported in Yokosuka, Japan, the Command Master Chief for Commander, Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Group in Norfolk, Virginia, and is currently serving as the Command Master Chief for 3D Marine Logistics Group in Okinawa, Japan.
 
   Master Chief Ziervogel is entitled to wear the Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
