Lieutenant Colonel Scott is a native Californian, living in Shasta County until his enlisted in the Marine Corps in June of 1993 as an Engineer Equipment Operator. A graduate of the California State University, Sacramento, he was commissioned a 2ndLt in May of 1998.
On completion of The Basic School, he was designated an engineer officer and in October 1999 was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa. He served as the Construction Section Officer-in-Charge, and in March 2000, assumed the duties of Officer-in-Charge, Engineer Operations Division.
Captain Scott transferred to Marine Corps Security Force Company, Kings Bay GA in July 2002, supporting naval strategic weapon security operations. He served for a year as the Platoon Commander, 2d Platoon and completed this tour as the Officer-in-Charge, Marine Guard Forces.
Captain Scott attended the Expeditionary Warfare School in August of 2004. During the summer of 2005 Captain Scott was assigned to Officers Candidate School as the Platoon Commander, 3rd Platoon, Company “C” for OCC 189.
Following OCS, he transferred to the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion in September of 2005, and deployed to Iraq from Jan 2006 to Jan 2007 as a member of the Iraqi Assistance Group (IAG), assigned to Team 6, Military Transition Teams. Upon return to 1st CEB he was assigned as the Battalion Logistics Officer. In September 2007 he assumed the duties of the Battalion Executive Officer.
In June of 2008, Major Scott transferred to the 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO), Okinawa Japan, where he served as the 2nd Brigade Platoon Commander. During this tour, Major Scott deployed to Iraq for Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 08.2 and 09.1.
Major Scott attended the US Naval War College, College of Naval Command and Staff (CNCS), graduating with Distinction and was selected as the 2010 CNCS “Honor Graduate.” Major Scott is also a graduate of the US Navy’s Maritime Advance Warfighting School and holds the secondary MOS of MAGTF Planner (0505). Major Scott completed his payback tour as the lead Contingency Plans Officer, G5/WarPlans, USMARCENT from Aug 2010 to May 2013.
In June 2013 Major Scott was again assigned as the Executive Officer, 1st Combat Engineer Battalion. He deployed with the Battalion to Afghanistan for OEF 13.2 in 2013, and served as the Battalion RBE OIC in 2014. Selected for Lieutenant Colonel, Major Scott was transferred to I MEF headquarters and assumed the duties of Force Engineer, I Marine Expeditionary Force in Aug 2014.
Lieutenant Colonel Scott assumed his current rank in April 2015 and was subsequently assigned as the Battalion Commander, 9th Engineer Support Battalion, on 3 June 2015. His personal awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (with one gold star), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with 2 gold stars and combat distinguishing device), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
