A monument on Mount Suribachi marks the exact spot of the original flag raising 72 years ago. This monument stands as a memorial for all those who fought so bitterly on this hallowed ground. The U.S. and Japan alliance is the hallmark of reconciliation and provide security and stability to the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
