Lance Cpl. Jose Matias, an administrative specialist with Headquarters and Service Company, 3rd Supply Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group (MLG), helps set up a Combat Operations Center (COC) on Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan, Aug 28, 2020. Marines with 3rd Supply Battalion practice setting up COCs to prepare for future operations. Matias, a native of New Bedford, Massachusetts, graduated from New Bedford High School in 2014 and enlisted of out recruiting station Swansea in 2019. 3rd MLG, based out of Okinawa, Japan, is a forward deployed combat unit that serves as III Marine Expeditionary Force’s comprehensive logistics and combat service support backbone for operations throughout the Indo-Pacific area of responsibility.
