Cpl. Matthew Metzger explains the functions of a Joint Chemical Agent Detector (JCAD) Jan. 11, 2019 at Camp Kinser, Okinawa, Japan. Marines trained in reconnaissance, surveillance and decontamination (RS&D) are required to take a refresher course every fiscal quarter to ensure they are capable of performing RS&D tasks operationally. The JCAD allows Marines to inspect areas for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) exposure. Metzger, a native of Olmsted Falls, Ohio, is a CBRN specialist with Headquarters Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 37, 3rd Marine Logistics Group. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Mark Fike)
