Sgt. Austin Evans pins the rank of corporal on to Cpl. Frederick J. Dudley IV in Pohang, South Korea, July 1, 2017. The promotion to corporal is the first step a Marine takes as a noncommissioned officer and also is a transition to small-unit leadership. Dudley is a New Orleans native and a military canine handler with 3rd Law Enforcement Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, III MEF.
