U.S. Marine Cpl. Christopher Ehms was one of the five Marines to assist a local Japanese woman on his way down Mount Fuji, Japan, July 3, 2017. The woman, Oda Moe, was found lying on the ground, hyperventilating and struggling to breathe when the Marines came to her assistance. As the other four Marines created a makeshift stretcher to carry her down the last two miles of the descent, Ehms ran ahead to alert medical personnel. Ehms, a 22 year old, Rochester, Michigan native, is a ground radio and miniature repairman with Electronics Maintenance Company, 3d Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 35, 3d Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
