U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Ryan W. Marczynski, right, shows an intraosseous catheter to Royal Cambodian Army Col. Mey Thun Nara during a practical application seminar March 20 as part of Cambodia Medical Exercise 14-1 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The catheter is used to initiate fluid resuscitation. The seminar is part of a weeklong medical subject-matter expert exchange focused on preparing and planning for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts. During the seminar, participants learned how to properly use and improvise certain medical equipment, such as tourniquets, to better support first aid and triage procedures. Nara is a pharmacist and the deputy director of the Cambodia Ministry of Health. Marczynski is a corpsman with 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
