Sergeant Major Andazola from El Paso, Texas enlisted in the Marine Corps on 24 October 2004 and attended Recruit Training at MCRD San Diego, California. Upon completion, he reported to follow-on training at Marine Combat Training School (MCT), in Camp Pendleton, California. Following MCT he reported to Structural Aviation School at Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. Upon completion Sergeant Major Andazola received additional MOS specific training at Marine Corp Air Station New River, North Carolina. In October 2005, Sergeant Major Andazola received orders to Marine Helicopter Training Squadron 302, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station New River. He served as an Airframes Mechanic, Collateral Duty Inspector, and Color Guard Sergeant. While stationed with the training squadron, Sergeant Major Andazola was promoted to the rank of Corporal, and meritoriously to the rank of Sergeant. In December 2008, Sergeant Major Andazola received orders to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361 at Marine Corp Air Station Miramar in San Diego, California. He served as a Work Center Supervisor, Collateral Duty Inspector, and Quality Assurance Representative. Sergeant Major Andazola deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in 2009 and 2010, Sergeant Major Andazola was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in May 2010. In October of 2011, Sergeant Major Andazola received orders to Drill Instructor School 1-12 Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California. Upon completing Drill Instructor School, he was assigned to 1st Battalion Company B where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Chief Drill Instructor. In December of 2014, Sergeant Major Andazola was assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361 where he held the billets of Maintenance Controller and Airframes SNCOIC. Sergeant Major Andazola was attached to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 as part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit during the UDP in the Summer of 2016. In September of 2017, Sergeant Major Andazola reported to Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Virginia. He served in multiple billets such as Sergeant Instructor, Platoon Sergeant, Academics Instructor, and Company Gunnery Sergeant. He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in July 2018. Sergeant Major Andazola was again assigned to HMH-361 from 2020 to 2022 where he served as the Airframes Division Chief. Sergeant Major Andazola received orders to 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines and reported in February of 2022 to Company L where he served as a Company First Sergeant, Unit Senior Enlisted Leader, Helo company. He deployed to Marine Rotational Force Darwin 2.23 in an effort to enhance the interoperability operations by training in multinational exercises with Royal Australian Army, Japanese Army and Gurkha's special operations forces. During this period, he graduated from Southern New Hampshire University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Sergeant Major Andazola’s following assignment was to Marine Corps Installations West, Headquarters and Support Battalion, H&S Company in Camp Pendleton and reported in March 2024. The Battalion’s mission provided the infrastructure that enabled Marine Corps air and ground forces to develop and sustain operation readiness. The H&S Company team supported the warfighters and their families by sections such as Postal, MCCS, Combat Camera, and Training Support Division who supports many units throughout the training areas. Sergeant Major Andazola was promoted to his current rank in June 2025. Sergeant Major Andazola’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
