Captain Janine Espinal

CAPT Janine Espinal is a career logistician and has been in the field of supply chain and medical logistics for twenty years. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Services Administration (magna cum laude) from Florida International University in Miami, FL. She received her Master’s Degree in Business Administration (cum laude) from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. CAPT Espinal had an established career in the civilian community but was inspired to enter the Navy because of the events of September 11, 2001.

 

CAPT Espinal was commissioned as a direct accession on December 31, 2002 from the Navy Recruiting District in Miami, FL. She entered the Navy with the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. She went to Officer Indoctrination School (OIS) in Newport, RI in March 2003. Her first duty station was Navy Medicine Readiness & Training Command (NMRTC) Lemoore, CA from April 2003 to June 2006 where she served as the Department Head of Materials Management. She also received her sub-specialty designators in Logistics/Comptroller from the Financial and Materials Management Training Course (FMMTC) at Naval Medical Leader and Professional Development Command (NMLPDC) in Bethesda, MD in 2003. While at NMRTC Lemoore, she was recognized as the Junior Officer of the Quarter in 2004 and received the Naval Medical Logistics Command Medical Logistician Literary Award in 2005. 

 

CAPT Espinal attended the Field Medical Service Officer (FMSO) course in 2006, at Camp Pendleton, CA. After FMSO school she reported to 1st Supply Battalion, 1st Medical Logistics Company (MEDLOG) where she served as the Executive Officer for a Company of 60 Marines and Sailors from June 2006 to December 2009. While at MEDLOG, she deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) in 2008. She received her Fleet Marine Force Qualified Officer Designation (FMFQO) while deployed. 

 

CAPT Espinal served at Naval Medical Logistics Command at Fort Detrick, MD from December 2009 to December 2012 as the Deputy Director for the Assemblage Management Section, Operational Forces Support Directorate. She was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander in Sept 2011. She also served as the Deputy Director of N42 (Logistics) at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery from January 2013 to October 2015. She was hand selected by the logistics community to serve as the Assistant Specialty Leader. 

 

CAPT Espinal was stationed at NMRTC Okinawa, Japan from November 2015 to June 2019 as the Department Head for Materials Management and was the command’s Sexual Assault Response Coordinator. She was also selected to serve as the Medical Logistics Community’s Specialty Leader. She was promoted to the rank of Commander in May 2018. She served as the Executive Officer of Naval Medical Readiness Logistics Command (NMRLC) from August 2019 to July 2022. In August 2022, she reported as the Senior Medical Logistician and Team Lead for the Expeditionary Medical Systems Team, Combat Support Systems (CSS), Marine Corps Systems Command at Quantico, VA. She was promoted to the rank of Captain in September 2023.
