Sergeant Major, 3rd Landing Support Battalion
Sergeant Major Louis J. Boff

Sergeant Major Louis Boff graduated from recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island, South Carolina in April of 2007.  He then attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Geiger, North Carolina.  Upon Completion of Marine Combat Training (MCT), Private Boff was assigned to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland to attend formal training as a Small Arms Technician.  He graduated on August 15, 2007 and was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal. 
 
In August 2007, Lance Corporal Boff reported to 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO) Camp Hansen, Okinawa as the Armory Chief.  While assigned Corporal Boff was deployed in support of OIF from September 2008 till March 2009.
 
In June 2011, Sergeant Boff reported for duty at Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron (HMLA-T 303) for on-the-job training before attending the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training.  He completed the course in October 2011 and returned to HMLA-T 303 serving as a UH/AH helicopter mechanic. During his time at HMLA-T 303, he also served as Squadron Color Sergeant and was a member of the MAG-39 and HMLA-T 303 NCO Leadership Council.
 
In September 2014, Sergeant Boff reported to Recruiter School at MCRD San Diego where he was assigned to report to Recruiting Station (RS) Pittsburgh.  In November 2014, Sergeant Boff reported to RS Pittsburgh, Recruiting Sub-Station (RSS) State College where he served as a canvassing recruiter in Altoona, PA.  In August 2016, Staff Sergeant Boff was selected to become the Station Commander of RSS Washington.  In January 2018, Staff Sergeant Boff was selected for meritorious promotion to Gunnery Sergeant.
 
In February 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Boff reported to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 469.  During his time he deployed to the 31ST Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) on the USS Greenbay in support of Task Force Kuirin.  In December 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Boff was selected to serve as the Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 39, Headquarters Squadron 39 First Sergeant.  Gunnery Sergeant Boff returned to HMLA-469 in January 2020, after serving successfully as the Headquarters Squadron First Sergeant, to prepare for the Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Okinawa, Japan.  In June 2020, Gunnery Sergeant Boff deployed with HMLA-469 in support of the UDP to Okinawa, Japan.  Upon his return from the UDP, Gunnery Sergeant Boff was selected to be the Squadron First Sergeant and S4 Chief after selection to First Sergeant to assist the squadron in preparation for the upcoming UDP.  
 
In June 2022, First Sergeant Boff reported to MWSS-172.  During his time he performed duties as Engineer Company Senior Enlisted Leader and Headquarters and Service Company Senior Enlisted Leader. During this time he has supported multiple Company and Squadron exercises including Korean Marine Exchange Program 23.2.
 
In June 2025, Sergeant Major Boff reported to 3d Landing Support Battalion to serve as Battalion Senior Enlisted Leader.
 
Sergeant Major Boff's personal decoration and awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, and various other unit and service awards.
