LtCol Yves Geoffrey was born in Burundi, East Africa, and grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. He enlisted in the Navy and served as a Search and Rescue Swimmer and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps in 2007 through Officer Candidate School. He is an alumnus of the University of Maryland earning a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Master of Arts in International Affairs.
LtCol Geoffrey’s Military Occupational specialties include Financial Management Officer (FMO), Foreign Area Officer (FAO) as well as a Foreign Security Forces (FSF) Advisor.
LtCol Geoffrey’s fleet and Headquarters tours include key FMO assignments as AC/S Deputy Comptroller (G8) for III MEF (2017), 1st MAW (2014), and III MEF Budget Officer (2009). During these postings, LtCol Geoffrey served as the lead Comptroller (J8) for Key PACOM Exercises such as Cobra Gold (Thailand), Balikatan and Phiblex (Philippines) and Key resolve (S. Korea). LtCol Geoffrey has also served in the Pentagon as the Aide-de-Camp to the Director of Marine Corps Staff (DMCS), and as an Analyst with the Federal Bureau of investigation in Washington DC.
LtCol Geoffrey’s FAO assignments include duty in Nairobi, Kenya as the Senior Operations Officer and Primary Liaison Officer between the U.S. Embassy Nairobi and the Kenyan Ministry of Defense. He also managed U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM) intelligence engagements with the Kenya Defense Forces - Directorate of Military Intelligence, a program that trains Kenyan intelligence professionals to support counterterrorism efforts in Somalia and around the region.
LtCol Geoffrey’s deployments include tours in the Republics of Afghanistan, Benin, and Togo. In Afghanistan, he served as an Embedded Training Team Advisor where he lived, trained, and conducted combat operations with the Afghan National Army (ANA) in Marjah, Helmand province. While in West Africa, LtCol Geoffrey, trained and advised the Benin Special Police Unit (Unité Spéciale de Surveillance des Frontiers - USSF) and the Togolese Armed Forces on border security.
LtCol Geoffrey is currently serving as the Commander for the Regional Disbursing Office-Pacific (RDO-P) Detachment with Combat Logistics Regiment 37(CLR-37) on Camp Foster, Okinawa Japan
LtCol Geoffrey’s professional military education encompasses the Command and Staff College (CSC), Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS) in Quantico, Virginia, Foreign Security Force Advisor in Twenty-nine Palms, California as well as the Defense Resource Management Course (DRMC), Risk Management Course (RMC) from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, and Security Cooperation Management Overseas from Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU), Dayton Ohio.
