LtCol Will Sykas was born on 6 August 1984. He reported to Officer Candidates School (OCS) in the summer of 2008, where he earned his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.
Following graduation, LtCol Sykas attended The Basic School, in Quantico, Virginia. Upon graduation in April 2009, he reported to the 9th Engineer Support Battalion (ESB) in Okinawa, Japan, prior to reporting to the Ground Supply Officer's Course at Camp Johnson, North Carolina, in July 2009, where he received the MOS 3002, Supply Officer.
Upon returning to 9th ESB, LtCol Sykas deployed with the command for the Afghanistan OEF 10-1 rotation. In August of 2010, he was promoted to First Lieutenant. Upon return from the deployment, LtCol Sykas served as the Battalion Logistics Officer.
In April of 2011, LtCol Sykas reported to 3d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion (LAR). He served as the supply officer for the command from 2011 to the fall of 2014. During that time, he deployed with the command to OEF 12-1, where they were the last LAR command in Afghanistan. Upon completion of the deployment, LtCol Sykas was promoted to the rank of Captain. Additionally, LtCol Sykas oversaw the unit's transition to GCSS-MC. They supported numerous training exercises and Unit Deployment Programs (UDP) for subordinate companies deploying to Okinawa, Japan, on a rotational basis.
Following his assignment at 3d LAR, LtCol Sykas reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), San Diego, from October 2014 to July 2017. While there, he served as a series commander, company commander, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion executive officer, and MCRD G-4 Logistics Operations officer.
In July 2017, LtCol Sykas reported as a student to the Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS). Following EWS, LtCol Sykas reported to the 2d Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) as the G-4 Ground Materiel Readiness Officer. While at 2d MAW, he was promoted to Major, served as the ACE's Arrival and Assemble Operations Element (AAOE) OIC for Exercise Trident Juncture 2018, and ran the Command Generals Supply and Maintenance Analysis Team (SMAT). Additionally, LtCol Sykas served as the Deputy AC/S G-4.
In July 2021, LtCol Sykas reported to Command and Staff College, Marine Corps University. Upon completion in June of 2022, he assumed the duties as the Combat Service Support Unit Head, Enlisted Assignments Branch, Manpower and Reserve Affairs Department, where he currently serves. At MMEA, he was promoted to LtCol, fulfilled the MMEA-23, Combat Service Support Unit Head, and the MMEA-2, Section Head billets, overseeing the assignment of all of the services enlisted Marines.
In July 2024, LtCol Sykas reported to Combat Logistics Regiment 27. There, he served as the Operations Officer and as the Regimental Executive Officer. In July 2025, he reported to Okinawa Japan where he served as the 3d Marine Logistics Group Deputy G-4 before assuming his current position as the Battalion Commander of 3d Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 35.
LtCol Sykas has a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Quinnipiac University and a Masters of Military Studies from Marine Corps Universities Command and Staff College. His personal decorations include the Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two gold stars in lieu of third award), and the Navy and Marine Meritorious Service Medal.
