Nathan J. Green was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 11, 1979, and is a first-generation Marine. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in November 1996 on an Aviation Maintenance contract.
His assignments as an Enlisted Marine were to: VMR-1, at Cherry Point, NC and Marine Security Guard Battalion (MSG Bn) in Quantico, VA. From MSG Bn he had follow-on assignments to U.S. Embassies Dhaka, Bangladesh and Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Sergeant Green executed his EAS in June 2002 in order to attend Western Illinois University. In 2006, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology with an emphasis in Construction Management and a Minor in Business Management.
He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps in November 2006. Prior to checking into The Basic School, he worked in commercial construction for FCI Constructors in Grand Junction, CO, in estimating and as a Project Engineer (Feb 2006-Feb 2007).
Upon completing The Basic School, Second Lieutenant Green attended the Logistics Officers Course at Camp Johnson, NC, graduating in February 2008. His assignments as a Commissioned Officer include: (while posted in Camp Lejeune, NC with CLB-2) Motor Transport Platoon Commander, Security Company Executive Officer (OIF 08.2 Al Anbar Province, Iraq), Headquarters and Support Company Commander / Battalion Adjutant (OEF 10.2 to Helmand Province, Afghanistan); (while posted at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand) Inspecting Officer, Logistics Officer and Executive Officer for Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, Region 3; (while posted in Okinawa Japan) Logistics Officer, Headquarters and Support Company Commander (3d Intelligence Battalion), Logistics Officer (MACG-18), Staff Secretary (III MEF CE), Logistics Officer (31st MEU). Major Green completed the Marine Corps’ Expeditionary Warfare School Non-resident course in 2016 and the Naval Command and Staff resident course at the U.S. Naval War College in 2021. While at the U.S. Naval War College, he also attained a Master’s Degree in Defense and Strategic Studies. From July 2021 – May 2024, he served in the following billets while assigned to U.S. Special Operations Command: SOCOM J4, Joint Property Oversight Branch Chief; Combined Special Operations Joint Task Force – Levant, J45 Plans and Readiness Division Chief; and SOCOM J4, Plans, Strategy, Posture & Programming Branch Chief.
As a baseball player, LtCol Green has played for the following teams: (1998/1999) MCAS Cherry Point Semi-professional baseball team, (2001/2002) USAC (Guatemalan National Baseball League), (2002) Western Illinois University (NCAA Division I), (2018-2020) Naha, Okinawa U.S. Consul General’s Diplomacy Baseball team. In 2021, he managed the Jamestown, RI Lawn School junior high baseball team.
