First Sergeant Guillermo Fargas

Fist Sergeant Fargas was born 26 April 1984 and raised in Bronx, NY. He attended basic training in November of 2003. After completion of basic training Private Fargas attended SOI, where he received the MOS of 0331 - Machine Gunner. In April of 2004 Private Fargas executed orders to 1st Battalion 8th Marines. In May of 2004, Private Fargas was promoted to Private First Class. In June of 2004 Private First Class Fargas was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II. In  March of 2005 he was promoted to Lance Corporal. 

In September 2005 Lance Corporal Fargas deployed to the city of New Orleans in support of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.  In January 2006 Lance Corporal Fargas was promoted from Team Leader to Squad Leader, and in June 2006 LCpl Fargas deployed with the 24th MEU. While on the MEU Lance Corporal Fargas conducted and executed NEO Operations in Beirut Lebanon.  In December 2006 Lance Corporal Fargas returned to CONUS after a successful deployment with the 24th MEU.

In February 2007 Lance Corporal reported to II MHG where he was assigned to MTT 13.  In May 2007 LCpl Fargas was promoted to Corporal.  In June 2007 Corporal Fargas Deployed to Iraq once again in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom V.  During this deployment, Corporal Fargas served as the Company Advisor.  In April 2008 Corporal Fargas reported to Officers Candidates School (OCS) as an Infantry Tactics Instructor.  In January 2009 Corporal Fargas was promoted to the rank of Sergeant while attending the Infantry Machine Gun Leaders Course. He was then assigned to the academics section where he served as the Testing and Evaluations NCO. 

In April 2010 Sergeant Fargas was assigned to Golf Company 2nd Battalion 3d Marines where assumed the duties as Infantry Machine Gun Squad Leader.  In August 2010 Sergeant Fargas was named the Company Level Intelligence Cell NCOIC and Operations NCO.  In November 2010 Sergeant Fargas deployed to Afghanistan where he was selected and served as the Headquarters Platoon Sergeant.  In June 2012 Sergeant Fargas deployed to Okinawa, Japan as an Infantry Rifle Platoon Sergeant, Golf Company.  In April of 2013, Sergeant Fargas was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant.  In August of 2013 Staff Sergeant Fargas was assigned to Marine Barracks Washington, where he served as MCI course writer.  In February 2014 He was assigned to 3d Platoon, Bravo Company as Platoon Sergeant for the Ceremonial Marching Platoon. 

In November 2016 Staff Sergeant Fargas was assigned to Weapons Platoon, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion 3d Marines. In June 2017 He deployed to Okinawa, Japan as the Company Operations Chief.  In September 2017 He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.  In December 2017 he assumed the duties as Company Gunnery Sergeant, Alpha Company.  In December 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Fargas deployed to Okinawa and was assigned to Headquarters and Service Company as the Company Gunnery Sergeant.

In August 2019 Gunnery Sergeant Fargas was selected to serve at Headquarters US Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida as the Directorate of Operations - Joint Operations Center Senior Enlisted Leader.  Gunnery Sergeant Fargas was then hand selected to serve as the Enlisted Executive Assistant to the Director of Operations at US Central Command (CCJ3).  In April 2021 Gunnery Sergeant Fargas was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant.  In July 2021 First Sergeant Fargas was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 3 Marine Corps Base Hawaii. 1stSgt Fargas currently serves as the Company First Sergeant Combat Logistics Company 33, Combat Logistics Regiment 37.

His personal decorations are the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Marine Corps Commendation Medal (w/ gold star), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (w/ three gold stars and 1 ‘V’), a Combat Action Ribbon, and two certificates of commendation.  First Sergeant Fargas is also the recipient of the Honolulu Council Navy League Award for exceptional military performance.
