Master Sergeant Joshua S. Nye

Master Sergeant Joshua S. Nye was born in Sanford, Maine. He entered recruit training on 15 September 1997. In December 1997, he graduated from Delta Company, 1 st Battalion, MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina. Following graduation from Marine Combat

Training, Private First Class Nye attended Basic Engineer Equipment Operator Course, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where he was assigned the Military Occupational Specialty of 1345.

In June 1998, Lance Corporal Nye reported to 2nd Landing Support Battalion at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where he served as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He deployed to Honduras as part of Joint Task Force Bravo for hurricane relief efforts for Hurricane Mitch in 1999. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal in January 2000.

In August 2000, Corporal Nye reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 171 on MCAS Iwakuni Japan for one year. While there he deployed to South Korea to participate in Operation Foal Eagle. After his year at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan Corporal Nye reported to Combat Assault Company, 3rd Marine Division on Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. While there he served as a Heavy Equipment Operator and held multiple collateral duties. In July 2002, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Sergeant Nye in August of 2004 transferred to Camp Pendleton, CA, where he was assigned under the I st Force Service Support Groups, G-4 staff, Industrial Hygiene Office. There he served as an Environmental Compliance inspector and instructor. He then deployed as the Groups Environmental and Safety compliance NCOIC in support of Operation Iraq Freedom from January 2016 to June 2016 while on Camp Al Taqaddum, Iraq. Upon return from deployment, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant in November 2006 and filled the role as the Environmental Chief for 1 st Force Service Support Group.

Staff Sergeant Nye received orders to recruiting duty and served as a canvassing recruiter and Detachment Commander for Recruiting Sub Station Alexandria, Recruiting Station Baton Rouge, Louisiana, from December 2007 to December 2010.

In January 2011, Staff Sergeant Nye reported back to Marine Wing Support Squadron 171 on MCAS Iwakuni, Japan. October 2011 he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. While at MWSS-171 he served as Heavy Equipment SNCOIC from January 2011 to December 2013 and also from January 2016 to February 2017. He also served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for Engineer Company from January 2014 to December 2015. He also attended Engineer Equipment Chiefs course in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, from September 2012 to November 2012.

In February 2017, he transferred to 1 st Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 15 in Camp Pendleton, CA where he served as Heavy Equipment SNCOIC and Engineer Equipment Chief. In July 2017 he was promoted to his current rank of Master Sergeant. Transferring February 2020 to his current assignment as Senior Enlisted Advisor, Combat Logistics Company 36, 3rd Supply Battalion on MCAS Iwakuni, Japan.

Master Sergeant Nye's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 2 gold star's and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 gold star's.
