Captain Alusine S. Kamara

Captain Kamara hails from Silver Spring, Maryland. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 2000. After bootcamp and follow-on training, Lance Corporal Kamara reported to Marine Corps Engineer School for Military Occupational Specialty training.

In April 2001, he reported to 2nd FSSG, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina as an electrical equipment repair specialist. In August 2001, Lance Corporal Kamara was assigned to CSSD-22 and deployed with the 22nd MEU in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. After his redeployment in October 2002, Corporal Kamara deployed again in February 2003 with 2nd MLG in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In 2004, Sergeant Kamara received Orders to MWSS-171, Iwakuni, Japan where he served as Platoon Sergeant and Utilities Floor Chief.

In 2005, Sergeant Kamara received Orders to Marine Corps Engineer School as an instructor. He executed those duties from 2005 to 2008 as instructor for the Basic Engineer Electrical Systems Technician Course and curriculum developer.

In 2009, Staff Sergeant Kamara returned to 2nd MLG and was subsequently selected to the FY09 Marine Enlisted Commissioning and Education Program. He attended North Carolina State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May 2012. After the Basic School, Second Lieutenant Kamara reported to the 2013 Logistics Officers Course at Camp Johnson, North Carolina.

In July 2013, he received Orders to MWSS-372, Camp Pendleton, California where he served as Maintenance Management Officer, Motor Transport Platoon Commander, Headquarters and Service Company Executive Officer, and S3-A. While with MWSS-372, First Lieutenant Kamara also deployed with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Central Command in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. From July 2016 to July 2019, Captain Kamara served at Headquarters, Marine Forces Reserve where he was the Aide-de-Camp to two Commanding Generals with Force Headquarters Group. Following that assignment, he was selected to attend resident FY20 Expeditionary Warfare School.

In June 2020, Captain Kamara reported for his current duty as Company Commander, Combat Logistics Company 36, 3d Supply Battalion, 3d MLG. Captain Kamara’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars, and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
